Massimo Torquati (General Chair)

Massimo Torquati is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa, where he also earned his PhD. He serves as Vice‑Director of the Italian CINI HPC‑KTT National Laboratory and is the local Principal Investigator at the University of Pisa in Euro‑HPC projects such as ADMIRE and EUPEX. His research focuses on parallel and distributed computing, runtime systems, programming models, and bridging advanced theory with practical system‑software implementations. He is the principal developer and current maintainer of FastFlow, a streaming-oriented parallel programming framework adopted in several EU-funded high-throughput and heterogeneous computing projects. He has recently overseen efforts to build the CAPIO middleware for efficient parallel I/O in scientific workflows. He has authored more than 130 peer‑reviewed papers in international journals and conferences, and acts as Associate Editor for Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS) and the Journal of Supercomputing.
